Aug 25 (Reuters) - The following is a factbox on esports, which will appear at the Asian Games in Jakarta as a demonstration event from Aug. 26 to Sept. 1.

- Qualifying for the event began across different Asian zones on June 6 through online matches and offline competitions, with 27 out of 45 member nations who were invited taking part.

A total of 185 gamers who have qualified from 18 countries will display their skills in six video game titles chosen by the regional governing body of the sport, the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF).

- Arena of Valor, Clash Royale, League of Legends, StarCraft II, Hearthstone and Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 are the six games chosen for this year’s event.

- This year’s competition is a trial run for esports’ inclusion as an exhibition event in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognised esports as a sports activity in November last year and it will be a medal event at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
